Description

Want a flagship looper with real per-loop effects and a dedicated drum switch? The VLP-400 gives you two full-featured loopers, 32-bit recording, seven assignable loop effects and a fourth footswitch dedicated to the drum machine.

Why looping guitarists and bassists choose the VLP-400

  • 4 dedicated footswitches (LOOP 1, LOOP 2, DRUM, ASSIGNABLE) mean less multi-tapping and clearer live control than a 2-switch looper.
  • 32-bit / 48kHz recording with WAV 32-bit float export gives you studio-grade quality straight off the pedal.
  • 7 assignable loop effects (Octave, Reverse, Freeze, Half, Fade, Once, Solo) plus STACK overdub open up creative loop manipulation the VLP-200 doesn't have.
  • 5-pin MIDI IN/OUT with master clock (when no MIDI IN is present) lets it drive or follow other gear's tempo.
  • More storage than the VLP-200 — about 12 hours across 99 projects, up to 6 minutes of stereo recording per project.

VLP-400 vs VLP-200

The VLP-400 here is the larger 4-switch model with 32-bit recording, more storage time, assignable loop effects, a dedicated drum footswitch, combo XLR input and 5-pin MIDI. The VLP-200 keeps the same dual-looper concept in a smaller two-switch, 24-bit unit with 1/8in TRS MIDI.

Controls and footswitches

  • 4 footswitches: LOOP 1, LOOP 2, DRUM, ASSIGNABLE, with red, green, blue, yellow and purple status LEDs (purple shows an active effect).
  • ASSIGNABLE footswitch: press to trigger the selected loop effect, long-press for STACK overdub, double-tap to start/stop loops and drums together.
  • ASSIGN knobs select which of the 7 loop effects the footswitch triggers.
  • SERIAL and FREE playback modes; intelligent overdub with length-multiple doubling.
  • CTRL jack for external footswitches with customizable functions.

Drum machine

  • 100 built-in patterns (rock, pop, jazz, electronic, metal and more), including a metronome.
  • AUTO mode follows the tempo of your recorded loop; SYNC mode locks loops to the drum tempo.

Connections & Power

  • Combo XLR/TS input (L/MIC) for instrument or dynamic mic, plus 1/4in TS input (R).
  • 2 x 1/4in TS outputs for mono or stereo rigs; 1/8in (3.5 mm) headphone output.
  • 5-pin MIDI IN/OUT with master clock when no MIDI IN is present.
  • USB 2.0 Type-C for project management, audio import/export and firmware updates (Windows and macOS).
  • 9V DC, 500 mA.
