About This Item

The Eventide H9 Harmonizer Gen 2 brings the full H90 and H9 Max algorithm libraries into Eventide's compact pedal format on modern ARM processing. It runs one algorithm at a time from a library of 74 or more, ships with over a thousand presets, stays compatible with H9 Classic presets and offers seamless spillover between them.

The H9 Gen 2 measures 13.3 x 12.7 x 6.9 cm and runs on a 12V DC supply drawing up to 1000 mA. It suits electric guitar, bass, vocals and other instruments.

Description

The H9 Gen 2 puts the H90's algorithm library into the small enclosure that started the format: pick one algorithm, get all of Eventide's reverb, delay, pitch, modulation and vocal processing behind it, and change presets with seamless spillover.

Which Eventide Harmonizer is this?

The H9 Harmonizer Gen 2 is the current compact Harmonizer: modern ARM processing, 74 or more algorithms covering the full H90 and H9 Max libraries including the Harmonizer+ vocal suite, and more than a thousand presets out of the box with H9 Classic preset compatibility. It runs one algorithm at a time, which keeps the workflow simple and the footprint small. The H90 Harmonizer and its limited H90 Dark colorway run two algorithms at once inside a single Program and add four inputs, four outputs and independently placed inserts, so they are the choice when you want complex routing rather than a compact box. The H9 Max Dark is the earlier 52-algorithm generation of this same compact format. For microphone sources, Eventide documents a vocals and MIDI keyboard routing using the MixingLink mic preamp.

Why guitarists choose the H9 Gen 2

  • The full H90 and H9 Max algorithm libraries are onboard, so the compact format no longer means a smaller sound palette.
  • More than a thousand presets ship with the pedal, and H9 Classic presets remain compatible, so an existing library carries over.
  • Seamless spillover between presets keeps reverb and delay tails alive when you change sound, which is what makes it usable live.
  • Wet/Dry and Pre/Post routing options cover a simple pedal setup, a mixer send, or a vocal chain fed from a microphone preamp.
  • Two Exp/Ctl jacks accept expression pedals or aux switches, and there is real five-pin DIN MIDI In and Out/Thru alongside USB-C.
  • Two programmable footswitches with Select, Bank, Perform, Preset and Parameter modes keep a large preset library manageable at your feet.

Controls and switches

  • Two programmable footswitches Work across Select, Bank, Perform, Preset and Parameter modes for preset and parameter control.
  • Front panel encoder and display Select algorithms and edit parameters directly on the pedal.
  • Exp/Ctl 1 and 2 Separate 1/4" TRS jacks for an expression pedal or an aux switch.
  • MIDI In and Out/Thru Five-pin DIN sockets for program changes and real-time control.
  • USB-C Connects the Eventide Control app on Mac and Windows and carries MIDI.
  • Routing options Wet/Dry and Pre/Post configurations for pedalboard, mixer send and vocal setups.

Power and pedalboard compatibility

Runs on a 12V DC center-positive supply through a 5.5 / 2.5 mm barrel jack and draws up to 1000 mA, and Eventide ships a 12V 1 A universal supply with US, UK, EU and AUS plugs in the box. A standard 9V pedalboard rail will not run it, so plan for a dedicated 12V output rated at 1 A or more. Inputs and outputs are two 1/4" mono jacks each at instrument or line level, so it fits in front of an amp, in an effects loop or across a stereo rig. Eventide lists Bluetooth support for the Eventide Control app on Mac and iPad as coming soon rather than shipping, so plan on USB-C for computer editing today.

FAQ

How is the Gen 2 different from the original H9? It moves to modern ARM processing and carries the full H90 and H9 Max algorithm libraries, with 74 or more algorithms, more than a thousand presets out of the box and seamless spillover between presets.

Can it run two algorithms at once? No. Like every H9, it runs one algorithm at a time. The H90 is the Eventide pedal that runs two algorithms simultaneously in a single Program.

Will my old H9 presets still work? Yes. Eventide states that the Gen 2 is H9 Classic preset compatible.

What power supply does it need? 12V DC center positive at up to 1 A on a 5.5 / 2.5 mm barrel jack. A 12V 1 A universal supply is included; a 9V pedalboard rail is not sufficient.

Does it have Bluetooth? Eventide lists Bluetooth support for the Eventide Control app on Mac and iPad as coming soon. USB-C connection to Mac and Windows is available now.

Can I use it with a microphone? Yes, with a preamp in front of it. Eventide documents a vocals and MIDI keyboard routing that uses the MixingLink to feed the pedal from a microphone.
