About This Item
Description
The H9 Max Dark is the all-black version of the pedal that fits a TimeFactor, a ModFactor, a PitchFactor and a Space into one small enclosure, driven by a single knob and two footswitches.
Which Eventide Harmonizer is this?
The H9 Max Dark is a limited black colorway of the H9 Max, the earlier generation of Eventide's compact Harmonizer. It ships with 52 algorithms and 99 onboard presets, runs one algorithm at a time, and draws its library from TimeFactor, ModFactor, PitchFactor and Space plus algorithms written for the H9 itself. Eventide no longer offers the Dark colorway, so treat it as a limited edition rather than a current model. The H9 Harmonizer Gen 2 is the current compact Harmonizer, with modern ARM processing and the full H90 and H9 Max libraries in the same one-algorithm-at-a-time format, while the H90 Harmonizer runs two algorithms at once in a larger enclosure. If you want extra footswitches on an H9, the Barn3 OX9 aux switch bolts straight to it.
Why guitarists choose the H9 Max Dark
- 52 algorithms drawn from four Factor pedals plus H9-only designs mean delay, modulation, pitch and reverb all live in one small enclosure.
- The one-knob interface keeps editing fast on a dark stage, and H9 Control handles the deep work from a phone, tablet or computer.
- True analog bypass keeps the pedal genuinely out of the signal path when it is switched off.
- 99 factory presets sit onboard with more than 500 more available through H9 Control, and setlists let you order them for a specific gig.
- Bluetooth control from iOS and Android, plus USB for Mac and PC, means no laptop is required at rehearsal.
- A built-in tuner and stereo I/O with expression and aux switch support cover the practical needs of a working board.
Controls and switches
- Single control knob Eventide's one-knob interface for selecting presets and editing effect parameters.
- Two footswitches Preset change, tap tempo and bypass, assignable to suit the way you work.
- Expression / AUX input A 1/4" jack for an expression pedal or an auxiliary footswitch such as the Barn3 OX9.
- MIDI In and Out/Thru Five-pin DIN sockets for real-time MIDI control and program changes.
- Mini USB Connects H9 Control on Mac and PC; use USB 2.0 cables.
- Built-in tuner A fast, accurate tuner is included in the pedal.
Power and pedalboard compatibility
Runs on a 9V DC center-positive supply through a 5.5 mm / 2.5 mm barrel plug and draws up to 500 mA, and a power supply is included. Center positive is the opposite of most BOSS-style pedalboard outputs, so use the Eventide adapter or a board output you can set to center positive with 500 mA available. The H9 uses true analog bypass, so the pedal is genuinely removed from the signal path when it is off. Stereo inputs and outputs on four mono jacks handle both a simple amp rig and a wet-dry setup, and the expression jack doubles as an auxiliary footswitch input.

FAQ
Is the H9 Max Dark different from a standard H9 Max? The Dark is a limited black colorway. Eventide currently offers only the standard H9 Max, so the Dark should be treated as a limited edition of the same platform rather than a separate specification.
How many algorithms does it have? 52 effect algorithms are preloaded, with 99 factory presets onboard and more than 500 further presets available through H9 Control.
Can it run two effects at once? No. The H9 platform runs one algorithm at a time. The H90 is the Eventide pedal that runs two algorithms simultaneously.
What polarity is the power supply? 9V DC center positive, 5.5 mm / 2.5 mm barrel, up to 500 mA. That is the reverse of most pedalboard outputs, so check before plugging in.
Is it true bypass? Yes. Eventide specifies true analog bypass for the H9.
How do I edit it without a computer? H9 Control connects wirelessly over Bluetooth from iOS and Android devices. Mac and PC connect over the Mini USB port using a USB 2.0 cable.
