Which Fulltone pedal is this?
The Ultimate Octave uses a BC108 silicon fuzz circuit with an added active tone stage, a dedicated Octave-Up footswitch and a Fat/Bright voicing toggle. It is not the same pedal as Fulltone's Octafuzz OF-2, which is a direct transformer-for-transformer copy of the vintage Tycobrahe Octavia and uses a single fuzz/octave toggle instead of a separate octave footswitch.

How is the Ultimate Octave different from Fulltone's Octafuzz OF-2? The Ultimate Octave is Fulltone's own BC108 silicon design with an active tone control, a Fat/Bright voicing switch and a dedicated Octave-Up footswitch. The Octafuzz OF-2 is a different pedal — a direct transformer-for-transformer copy of the vintage Tycobrahe Octavia with a single fuzz/octave toggle instead of a separate octave footswitch.
What does the Fat/Bright toggle change tonally? Fat rolls the pre-fuzz EQ toward a rounder, warmer bottom end for chords and low-string work. Bright emphasizes upper mids and treble so the octave-up harmonic sits on top of the fuzz more clearly.
How is the Octave-Up footswitch used in practice? The Octave-Up footswitch layers the octave harmonic on top of the fuzz whenever you want it — you can play straight fuzz all song and stomp the octave-up only for a lead line or accent, without changing anything else in your chain.
Does the octave-up work equally well on all pickups? Octave-up tracking is cleanest on the neck pickup around the 12th fret — that's classic Octavia behavior, not specific to this pedal. It still works on the bridge pickup and lower positions, but is subtler and more chord-friendly there.
What power supply does it need — center-negative or center-positive? Standard center-negative 9 V DC (Boss-style barrel). The pedal accepts 9 V to 18 V. Any regulated isolated pedalboard supply works.
Is this true bypass? Yes. Fulltone Ultimate Octave Fuzz Pedal uses Fulltone's own 3PDT true-bypass footswitch — the signal path is fully disconnected when the pedal is off.
Can I run this on 18 V for more headroom? Yes. Fulltone Ultimate Octave Fuzz Pedal runs on 9 V or up to 18 V DC. Higher voltage gives more headroom, cleaner dynamics and slightly firmer feel. Use a standard center-negative isolated supply.
