Description

The Hotone Ampero Mini MP-50VN Vanilla is the smallest, lightest first-generation Ampero processor, built for travel and desk rigs where every gram and every centimetre counts.

Which first-generation Ampero processor fits your board?

Model Effects Built-in EXP pedal Outputs MIDI Power Weight
Ampero Mini (MP-50VN) 199 No 1 x 1/4" TRS stereo (Y-cable for L/R) + headphones None 9V DC, 500mA 529 g
Ampero One (MP-80) 242 Yes (EXP 1 onboard + EXP 2 external) 2 x 1/4" TS + headphones None 9V DC, 500mA 1202 g
Ampero (MP-100) 270 Yes 2 x 1/4" TS + 2 x XLR balanced (ground lift) + headphones 5-pin in/out 18V DC, 500mA 1408 g

Choose Ampero Mini for the smallest, lightest travel or desk rig with USB-C and a single stereo TRS output. Choose Ampero One when you want an onboard expression pedal and dual TS outputs without paying for XLR or MIDI. Choose Ampero for the fullest first-generation feature set – the largest effect count, XLR balanced outs with ground lift, and full 5-pin MIDI – and remember it needs an 18V supply, not the 9V used by Ampero Mini and Ampero One.

None of these three has a device-side NAM module. Each imports up to 10 Sound Clone tone files (.nam, .tone, or .clo, one usable at a time) through Ampero Editor, and Ampero Editor V1.6.0 added the ability to accept NAM A2 files for that same Sound Clone workflow – a companion-app feature, not native on-device NAM A2 playback.

Why guitarists choose the Ampero Mini

  • Smallest and lightest first-generation Ampero unit at 529 g and 13.4 x 12.0 x 4.9 cm, easily the most travel-friendly of the three.
  • USB-C connectivity, the only first-generation Ampero unit with USB-C instead of USB Type-B, for simpler modern cable management.
  • EXP/CTRL (FS 3/4) jack is officially documented as "Perfect for Hotone Ampero Press or Ampero Switch", giving you a clear, Hotone-confirmed path to add expression or footswitch control.
  • 199 effects across 9 modules and 198 patches keep the essential Ampero tone-shaping toolkit in a fraction of the size.
  • 9V DC power (500 mA max), matching Ampero One's supply voltage for easier power-brick sharing on a compact board.
  • Vanilla is one of Hotone's official Ampero Mini colourways, alongside Marigold, Orange, Matcha, Mustard, and Purple Taro.

Controls and switches

  • 4" touchscreen – full patch/effect editing.
  • Footswitches – patch change, effect on/off, tap tempo, CTRL functions.
  • Tap divide control for tempo-based effects.

Power and pedalboard compatibility

Runs on 9V DC centre negative, drawing up to 500 mA. Input impedance is 4.7 MΩ, Aux In 10 kΩ, output 1 kΩ, headphones 22 Ω. The single 1/4" TRS stereo output needs a Y-cable to split into separate left/right feeds (Tip = Left, Ring = Right).

FAQ

Does Ampero Mini support NAM A2 on the device? No. Ampero Mini has no device-side NAM module in firmware V2.2. It has Sound Clone only (import up to 10 tone files via Ampero Editor, one usable at a time, .nam/.tone/.clo formats). Ampero Editor V1.6.0 added NAM A2 file support for that Sound Clone workflow – a companion-app feature, not on-device NAM A2 playback.

What does the Vanilla colourway mean? Vanilla is one of Hotone's own colourways for Ampero Mini, sold alongside Marigold, Orange, Matcha, Mustard, and Purple Taro on Hotone's shop.

How do I get stereo output from a single output jack? The unit has one 1/4" TRS stereo output; use a TRS Y-cable to split it into separate left and right 1/4" feeds (Tip = Left, Ring = Right).

Which footswitch or expression pedal does Hotone recommend? The EXP/CTRL (FS 3/4) jack is documented as "Perfect for Hotone Ampero Press or Ampero Switch".

How does it compare to Ampero One? Ampero Mini is smaller and lighter (529 g vs 1202 g) with fewer effects (199 vs 242) and no built-in expression pedal, while Ampero One adds EXP 1 onboard and dual TS outputs.

Does it have MIDI? No MIDI on this unit; for full 5-pin MIDI, see the original Ampero (MP-100).

Works well with

Ampero Press (SP-30), Ampero Switch, Karat Cap
