Description

The Meris Enzo turns your guitar or bass into a multi-voice synthesizer, tracking your playing in real time for tight monosynth leads, thick polyphonic chords, or sequenced arpeggios — with no special pickup to install.

Which Meris Enzo is this?

Enzo is the original two-footswitch Multi-Voice Instrument Synthesizer: a single-knob filter envelope, no amplitude envelope, one 530 ms delay with stereo output, no onboard reverb, 16 internal presets, and MIDI over the multi-function EXP jack. If you want full ADSR envelopes on both filter and amplitude, dual 2500 ms delays, three onboard reverbs, a 6-voice polyphonic engine playable from a MIDI keyboard, and 99 presets across a color screen, that is the Enzo X, available separately as its own pedal on our site.

Why guitarists choose the Enzo

  • Tracks a standard guitar or bass signal directly — no special synth pickup to install.
  • Four playable modes (Poly, Mono, Arp, Dry) cover chordal pads, monophonic leads, sequenced arpeggios, and a clean compressor pass-through.
  • Six-type multimode filter spans vocal-like bandpass to buzzy lowpass tones from a single knob.
  • Built-in two-tap delay and ring modulator add movement and texture without extra pedals.
  • 16 onboard presets recall your favorite synth patches instantly.
  • Trails-enabled bypass lets synth and delay tails ring out naturally instead of cutting off.

Controls and switches

  • Pitch / Portamento (Alt) — Sets pitch tracking response in Poly/Mono/Arp modes; the Alt layer switches to Portamento glide time between notes.
  • Filter / Filter Type (Alt) — Sweeps the multimode synth filter's cutoff; Alt cycles through six filter types across the Ladder and State Variable topologies for tone shaping from vocal-like bandpass to buzzy lowpass.
  • Mix / Delay Level (Alt) — Blends synth signal with your dry input; Alt sets the level of the built-in two-tap delay (530 ms max).
  • Filter Envelope / Filter Bandwidth (Alt) — Shapes how the filter envelope opens and closes on each note; Alt adjusts filter bandwidth/resonance for the State Variable filter types.
  • Modulation / Delay Feedback (Alt) — Controls ring modulation depth; Alt sets delay feedback for longer, more repeating echoes.
  • Sustain / Ring Mod (Alt) — Extends synth note sustain up to an endless hold; Alt dials in ring modulator frequency for metallic, bell-like overtones.
  • Alt (HOLD) button — Press and hold to access the second layer of functions on every knob above.
  • Synth Mode select — Chooses Poly, Mono, Arp, or Dry mode, switching Enzo between chordal synth, monophonic lead, sequenced arpeggiator, and a dry-signal compressor pass-through.
  • Tap footswitch / Envelope Type (Alt) — Taps in delay time and arpeggiated synth rate; hold for momentary max delay feedback. Alt toggles between Triggered and Envelope Follower envelope types.
  • Bypass footswitch / Synth Waveshape (Alt) — Engages or bypasses the effect; Alt selects sawtooth or square oscillator waveshape.

Power and pedalboard compatibility

Enzo runs on 9V DC, center-negative, 2.1 mm barrel, drawing about 150 mA — well within range for a standard isolated pedalboard supply. A power supply is not included. Because the True Bypass relay is mono, place Enzo anywhere in a standard mono chain; with Trails enabled the synth and delay tails continue to ring out naturally after you bypass, so many players run Enzo later in the chain, after drive and before time-based effects, or in an effects loop for a cleaner blend. For instant preset recall or full MIDI control without a computer, pair it with the Meris Preset Switch and the Meris MIDI I/O.

FAQ

Do I need a special pickup for Enzo to track my guitar?

No. Enzo tracks a standard guitar or bass signal directly, with no special pickup installation.

What is the difference between Enzo and Enzo X?

Enzo has a single-knob filter envelope, no amplitude envelope, one 530 ms delay and no onboard reverb across 16 presets. The Enzo X adds full ADSR envelopes, dual longer delays, three reverbs, 6-voice polyphony playable by MIDI keyboard, and 99 presets, and is sold as a separate model on our site.

Can I recall presets without MIDI?

Yes. The first four of Enzo's 16 presets are reachable with the Meris Preset Switch, and all 16 are reachable over MIDI using the Meris MIDI I/O.

Does Enzo work in stereo?

Yes. The input can be switched to accept a TRS stereo signal with a TRS-Y cable, and Enzo has separate LEFT and RIGHT outputs; use LEFT alone for mono.

Does Enzo have trails?

Yes. A global Trails setting lets the synth and delay decay naturally after you switch Enzo to bypass, instead of cutting off abruptly.

What power supply does Enzo need?

9V DC, center-negative, 2.1 mm barrel, drawing about 150 mA. A power supply is not included; Meris recommends an isolated multi-output supply rather than a daisy chain.

How do I add MIDI control to Enzo?

Connect a Meris MIDI I/O to Enzo's EXP jack with a TRS cable; it converts standard 5-pin DIN MIDI to the TRS protocol Enzo expects.
