About This Item

The Meris Enzo is a multi-voice instrument synthesizer that tracks your guitar or bass in real time, no special pickup required, for tight monosynth leads, polyphonic chord pads, or sequenced arpeggios in Poly, Mono, Arp, or Dry mode.

Power: 9V DC center-negative, 2.1mm, ~150mA (adapter not included). Bypass: selectable relay true bypass or analog buffered bypass. 16 onboard presets, MIDI over the multi-function EXP jack. GTIN: 862539000483. Manufacturer: Meris.

Description

The Meris Enzo turns your guitar or bass into a multi-voice synthesizer, tracking your playing in real time for tight monosynth leads, thick polyphonic chords, or sequenced arpeggios — with no special pickup to install.

Enzo is the original two-footswitch Multi-Voice Instrument Synthesizer: a six-type filter with an envelope, a two-tap delay of up to 530 ms, ring modulation, stereo input and output, and presets over MIDI or the Meris Preset Switch, in a compact brushed-aluminum enclosure designed and built in California.

Why guitarists choose the Enzo

  • Tracks a standard guitar or bass signal directly — no special synth pickup to install; switchable headroom also accepts synth and line-level sources.
  • Four playable modes (Poly, Mono, Arp, Dry) cover chordal pads, dual-oscillator monophonic leads, sequenced arpeggios linked to tap tempo, and a Dry mode that runs your own signal through the filter, delay and pitch shift.
  • Six-type multimode filter spans Ladder and State Variable lowpass, bandpass and highpass tones.
  • Built-in two-tap delay and ring modulator add movement and texture without extra pedals.
  • Up to 16 presets over MIDI, or 4 with the Meris Preset Switch.
  • Selectable delay trails let echoes ring out naturally after you bypass.

Controls and switches

  • Pitch / Portamento (Alt) — Shifts the synth or dry signal in half-step increments; the Alt layer sets portamento glide time between notes.
  • Filter / Filter Type (Alt) — Sweeps the multimode synth filter's cutoff; Alt cycles through six filter types: Ladder Lowpass, Ladder Shelving Bandpass, Ladder Highpass, State Variable Lowpass, State Variable Bandpass and State Variable Highpass.
  • Mix / Delay Level (Alt) — Blends synth signal with your dry input; Alt sets the level of the built-in two-tap delay (530 ms max).
  • Filter Envelope / Filter Bandwidth (Alt) — Sets attack and decay for the triggered envelope, or direction and sensitivity for the envelope follower; Alt adjusts filter bandwidth (resonance).
  • Modulation / Delay Feedback (Alt) — Detunes the synth oscillators (sets delay modulation in Dry mode); Alt sets delay feedback for longer, more repeating echoes.
  • Sustain / Ring Mod (Alt) — Extends synth note sustain up to an endless hold (compresses the input in Dry mode); Alt dials in ring modulator frequency for metallic, bell-like overtones.
  • Alt (HOLD) button — Press and hold to access the second layer of functions on every knob above.
  • Mode button — Chooses Poly, Mono, Arp, or Dry mode.
  • Tap footswitch / Envelope Type (Alt) — Taps in delay time and arpeggiator tempo; hold for momentary max delay feedback. Alt toggles between Triggered and Envelope Follower envelope types.
  • Bypass footswitch / Synth Waveshape (Alt) — Engages or bypasses the effect; Alt selects sawtooth or square oscillator waveshape.

Connections & Power

  • Input: one 1/4" TRS jack, switchable mono or stereo (use a TRS-Y cable for stereo sources).
  • Outputs: two 1/4" jacks, LEFT and RIGHT; use LEFT alone for mono.
  • Multi-function EXP jack: expression pedal (controls all parameters at once), Meris Preset Switch, external tap switch, or MIDI in/out over TRS with a MIDI-to-TRS box such as the Meris MIDI I/O. MIDI beat clock sync is supported.
  • Selectable relay true bypass or analog buffered bypass.
  • Power: 9V DC, center-negative, 2.1 mm barrel, drawing under 150 mA. Power supply not included; battery operation is not supported.

FAQ

Do I need a special pickup for Enzo to track my guitar? No. Enzo tracks a standard guitar or bass signal directly, with no special pickup installation.

What is the difference between Enzo and Enzo X? Enzo has a single Filter Envelope knob plus a Sustain control, one 530 ms two-tap delay and no onboard reverb, in a compact two-footswitch pedal. Enzo X adds full ADSR envelopes, dual 2500 ms delays, three reverbs, drives, 6-voice polyphony playable by MIDI keyboard, a color screen and 99 presets.

Can I recall presets without MIDI? Yes. Four presets are reachable with the Meris Preset Switch, and up to 16 over MIDI using a MIDI-to-TRS interface such as the Meris MIDI I/O.

Does Enzo work in stereo? Yes. The input can be switched to accept a TRS stereo signal with a TRS-Y cable, and Enzo has separate LEFT and RIGHT outputs; use LEFT alone for mono.

Does Enzo work on bass and keyboards? Yes. It tracks bass as well as guitar, and the input/output headroom switches between guitar and synth/line level for keyboards and other line sources.

What power supply does Enzo need? 9V DC, center-negative, 2.1 mm barrel, drawing under 150 mA. A power supply is not included and the pedal does not run on batteries; an isolated multi-output supply is recommended.

How do I add MIDI control to Enzo? Connect a MIDI-to-TRS interface such as the Meris MIDI I/O to Enzo's EXP jack with a TRS cable; it converts standard 5-pin DIN MIDI to the TRS connection Enzo uses, including beat clock sync.
