About This Item

The Meris Hedra is a 3-voice rhythmic pitch shifter that layers up to three independently pitched, tempo-synced voices for rhythmic arpeggios, thick harmonies, and pulsing pitched textures from a single guitar or bass line.

Power: 9V DC center-negative, 2.1mm, ~150mA (adapter not included). Bypass: selectable relay true bypass or analog buffered bypass. 16 onboard presets, MIDI over the multi-function EXP jack. GTIN: 862539000490. Manufacturer: Meris.

Description

The Meris Hedra stacks up to three independently pitch-shifted, tempo-synced voices to turn a single guitar or bass line into rhythmic arpeggios, thick harmonies, or pulsing textures.

Each voice has its own interval, from two octaves down to two octaves up, and its own rhythmic time division, and the Key control keeps harmonies diatonic in a chosen key and scale or switches to chromatic shifting.

Why guitarists choose the Hedra

  • Three independently pitched voices turn a single note or chord into rhythmic arpeggios and thick harmonies.
  • Tap tempo locks every voice's rhythm to your song, and MIDI beat clock sync is available too.
  • Per-voice pitch intervals span wide harmony and unison-detune textures in one pedal; Micro Tune adds synth-like detuned fattening.
  • Pitch correction and glide let voices snap to the scale or slide between intervals.
  • Up to 16 presets over MIDI, or 4 with the Meris Preset Switch.
  • MIDI over the multi-function EXP jack unlocks full remote control with a MIDI-to-TRS interface such as the Meris MIDI I/O.

Controls and switches

  • Key / Scale Type (Alt) — Sets the key for diatonic harmonies (maximum = chromatic shifting); Alt selects the scale: Major, Minor, Melodic Minor, Harmonic Minor, Double Harmonic, Eastern Pentatonic or Minor Pentatonic.
  • Micro Tune / Pitch Correction + Glide (Alt) — Slightly detunes all three voices; Alt selects no, loose or strict pitch correction (min to mid) or sets glide time between shifted notes (mid to max).
  • Mix / Delay Feedback (Alt) — Balances shifted voices against your dry signal; Alt sets feedback on Hedra's onboard delay for repeating pitched trails.
  • Pitch 1 / Time Division 1 (Alt) — Sets the shifted interval for voice 1; Alt sets that voice's rhythmic time division relative to the tapped tempo.
  • Pitch 2 / Time Division 2 (Alt) — Sets the shifted interval for voice 2; Alt sets that voice's rhythmic time division.
  • Pitch 3 / Time Division 3 (Alt) — Sets the shifted interval for voice 3; Alt sets that voice's rhythmic time division.
  • Alt (HOLD) button — Hold to access the second layer of functions on every knob and footswitch.
  • Mode button — Chooses the delay arrangement: Dual (two short delays, stereo output), Dual + Series (with cross-feedback), Series (one long delay) or Pitch Feedback (pitch shifters inside the feedback loop).
  • Tap footswitch / Half Speed (Alt) — Taps in the tempo the three voices sync to; hold for an automatic volume swell based on pick attack; Alt engages half-speed timing for slower, more spacious patterns.
  • Bypass footswitch / Pitch Smoothing (Alt) — Engages or bypasses the effect; Alt toggles pitch control smoothing (off gives hard-stepped intervals).

Connections & Power

  • Input: one 1/4" TRS jack, switchable mono or stereo; switchable guitar or synth/line headroom.
  • Outputs: two 1/4" jacks, left and right.
  • Multi-function EXP jack: expression pedal (controls all parameters at once), Meris Preset Switch, external tap switch, or MIDI in/out over TRS with a MIDI-to-TRS box.
  • Selectable relay true bypass or analog buffered bypass.
  • Hedra runs on 9V DC, center-negative, 2.1 mm barrel, drawing under 150 mA — well within range for a standard isolated pedalboard supply. A power supply is not included; battery operation is not supported.

FAQ

How many pitch voices does Hedra have? Three independently pitched voices, each with its own interval and rhythmic time division, combinable in Dual, Dual + Series, Series, or Pitch Feedback modes.

Can I quantize the pitch shifting to a key? Yes. The Key and Scale controls keep all three voices in a chosen key and scale so shifted intervals stay musical; set Key to maximum for chromatic shifting.

Can I recall presets without MIDI? Yes. Four presets are reachable with the Meris Preset Switch, and up to 16 over MIDI with a MIDI-to-TRS interface such as the Meris MIDI I/O.

Does Hedra work in stereo? Yes. The input can be switched to stereo over a TRS cable, and there are separate left and right outputs; Dual mode splits the delays across the stereo outputs.

Does Hedra work on bass? Yes. Hedra shifts any instrument signal, and the headroom switch accepts both guitar/bass and synth/line levels.

What power supply does Hedra need? 9V DC, center-negative, 2.1 mm barrel, drawing under 150 mA. A power supply is not included.

How do I add MIDI control to Hedra? Connect a MIDI-to-TRS interface such as the Meris MIDI I/O to Hedra's EXP jack with a TRS cable to convert standard 5-pin DIN MIDI; MIDI beat clock sync is supported.
