The Eventide MixingLink is a stompbox-sized microphone preamplifier with switchable 48V phantom power and a footswitchable effects loop. It lets a microphone drive a pedalboard and then feed a PA or an interface through a balanced XLR output that switches between DI and line level.

MixingLink measures 9.1 x 6.7 x 3.8 cm, runs on 9V DC center negative drawing up to 200 mA from the included international supply, and also operates on a 9V battery, although phantom power is unavailable in battery mode. The signal path is fully analog throughout.

Description

MixingLink puts a real high-gain microphone preamp on the floor, so a condenser or a dynamic can be sent through your pedals and back out to a PA on a balanced XLR, all from a box the size of a stompbox.

Which Eventide preamp is this?

MixingLink is not an effect. It is the analog front end that makes the rest of a pedalboard usable with a microphone: high-gain mic preamp, 48V phantom power, a footswitchable send and return loop, an XLR output switchable between DI and line level, and a headphone amp. Eventide documents it as part of a vocals and MIDI keyboard routing for the H9 Harmonizer Gen 2, and it works equally well feeding an H90 Harmonizer for the Harmonizer+ vocal algorithms.

Power and phantom power

MixingLink runs on 9V DC center negative through a 5.5 mm / 2.1 mm barrel plug, accepts up to 12V DC and draws up to 200 mA, and an international universal power supply is included. It also runs on a 9V battery, with alkaline recommended and the battery clip located under the bottom cover, which makes it viable for location recording and busking. One important limitation: phantom power is not available on battery, so a condenser microphone needs the pedal to be running from the mains adapter. The signal path itself is fully analog, and the footswitchable loop means it drops into an existing pedalboard without changing how those pedals behave.

FAQ

Does MixingLink add any effects of its own? No. It contains no effects. It is a preamp and routing tool that sends your signal out to external pedals and brings it back.

Can it power a condenser microphone? Yes, it supplies switchable 48V phantom power, but only when running from the mains adapter. Phantom power is unavailable on battery.

Can I run it on a battery? Yes. It operates on a 9V battery, alkaline recommended, with the clip under the bottom cover. Remember that phantom power is disabled in that mode.

What can I plug into the outputs? The XLR DI/Line output feeds a PA or an interface depending on the switch position, the TO AMP 1/4" output feeds a guitar amp, and the phones jack drives headphones at 150 mW per channel into 8 Ohms.

Do reverb tails cut off when I switch the loop out? That is your choice. The Tails ON/OFF DIP switch, SW6, determines whether tails from the pedals in the loop continue after the loop is bypassed.
