About This Item
Description
Riptide puts a Uni-Vibe and a pair of overdrive voices in one stereo box and then lets you decide which one hits first, so the same chord can bloom through a swirling vibe into crunch or be driven hard and then thrown across the stereo field.
Riptide combines two distinct drive voices, Green for a dynamic mid-range crunch and Red for a smoother boosted overdrive, with two Uni-Vibe voices: Green, the traditional Shin-ei style vibe, and Red, a deeper, more phase-forward vibe. Order swapping is the feature that sets it apart from stacking two pedals. If you want modulation without gain, TriceraChorus is the chorus specialist and ModFactor is the multi-algorithm modulation box.
Why guitarists choose the Riptide
- Two drive voices cover different jobs: Green is a dynamic, mid-focused crunch that cleans up with the volume knob, Red is a smoother boosted overdrive for leads.
- Two Uni-Vibe voices: Green is the traditional Shin-ei style throb, Red is a deeper, phasier take on it.
- Order swapping between Drive and Vibe changes the character completely, which two separate pedals cannot do without repatching.
- Everything runs in stereo, so the vibe spreads across two amps or a stereo interface instead of collapsing to one side.
- Drive and Vibe each have their own footswitch, so either effect runs alone or both together.
- 5 onboard presets recall complete drive-and-vibe combinations, with up to 127 available over MIDI.
- Expression control can sweep any combination of parameters, for example vibe speed and drive amount together.
Controls
- DRIVE section: Drive, Tone and Level knobs.
- VIBE section: Vibe (dry/wet blend, from chorus to pure vibrato), Speed and Intensity knobs.
- Voice buttons: LED buttons above each footswitch select the Green or Red voice of that section.
- Swap button: places Drive before Vibe or Vibe before Drive.
- Drive and Vibe footswitches: dual-action, latching or momentary; in Preset mode they step through presets.
- Catch-up mode helps match knob positions when switching presets or parameters.
- Rear Guitar/Line and Mono/Stereo switches.
Connections & Power
- 1/4" TRS input reads a mono signal on the tip or a stereo pair on tip and ring, set by the rear Mono/Stereo switch; two 1/4" TS outputs.
- Rear Guitar/Line switch matches the pedal to a guitar, a synth, an effects loop or an audio interface.
- EXP jack (1/4" TRS) takes an expression pedal, a single aux switch for tap tempo, a triple aux switch for preset up/down/load, or MIDI over TRS with a Type A adapter.
- Mini USB for MIDI and software updates; presets and settings are managed in the free Eventide desktop software for Mac and PC.
- Power: 9V DC center-negative, 300 mA, 5.5 mm / 2.1 mm barrel. Use an isolated output rated 300 mA or more. A universal supply with US, EU, UK, JP and AU plugs is included.
- Bypass: Buffered, Relay (true bypass), DSP+FX (tails) or Kill Dry for parallel loops.

FAQ
Can I use the drive and the vibe separately? Yes. Drive and Vibe each have their own footswitch and controls, so you can run drive alone, vibe alone, or both together, and the Swap button sets which one comes first.
What is the difference between the Green and Red drives? Green is a dynamic, mid-focused crunch that cleans up with the guitar's volume knob. Red is a smoother boosted overdrive suited to leads.
What is the difference between the Green and Red vibes? Green is the traditional Shin-ei style Uni-Vibe throb. Red is a deeper, more phase-forward take on it.
Does Riptide have tap tempo? Yes, through an aux switch connected to the EXP jack. There is no dedicated tap footswitch on the pedal itself.
Does it work in stereo? Yes. The TRS input reads a stereo pair on tip and ring when the rear Mono/Stereo switch is set to Stereo, and there are two outputs.
Will a daisy chain power it? Not reliably. It needs 9V DC center-negative at 300 mA, so use an isolated output rated 300 mA or more. A universal supply with US, EU, UK, JP and AU plugs is included.
