About This Item

Evidence Audio Forte Instrumental – Instrument cable

This SKU: 20 ft (6 m), Right to Straight 1/4 in plugs; for guitar/bass to amp

One benefit: reference sound in a flexible, rugged cable you can gig with.

Description

The Forte is designed to create the kind of first-listen realization that a spec sheet alone cannot convey: plug in and the reference sound is simply there, in a cable that is still flexible and road-ready.

This listing is the 20 ft (6 m) version with a right-angle plug on one end and a straight plug on the other. The right-angle plug goes into the guitar, which keeps the cable close to the body and suits side-mounted or recessed output jacks; the straight plug with the red boot goes to the amp or the first pedal.

Players choose the Forte when they want the transparency of a reference cable without wrestling with a stiff cord. Each copper strand in its IGL-ECS conductors is enamel-coated, so the conductor measures and sounds like a solid-core cable yet keeps the flexibility and ruggedness of a stranded design. Separate positive and negative runs carry the signal in a semi-balanced layout, so the shield blocks noise instead of carrying audio.

The Forte is noticeably more pliable than the solid-core Lyric HG and lies flatter on the stage floor, while still being a substantial, well-built cable rather than a thin, limp one. If maximum flexibility for constant movement is the priority, the coaxial Reveal (IGL-ECS stranded center conductor, 98% parallel-run shield) is the lighter-handling alternative.

Key Features

  • Proprietary IGL-ECS copper conductors: enamel-coated strands that behave like solid core while staying flexible
  • Semi-balanced, low-capacitance geometry with separate positive and negative runs
  • High-density braided shield attached at the output end only, bleeding interference to ground
  • Carbon-loaded extrusion to reduce triboelectric (handling) noise
  • 20 AWG conductors
  • Neutrik 1/4" plugs with high-copper-content brass contacts, nickel plating and a chuck-type cable clamp
  • Directional: each cable is tested for direction; the red boot marks the output end that connects to the amp
  • Hand-built in the USA from USA-manufactured material

Getting the Best Sound

  • Connect the red-boot end to the amplifier or first pedal input
  • Allow about 40 hours of signal for break-in; roughly 80% of the change happens in the first 10 hours

FAQ

How flexible is the Forte? More flexible and easier to handle than the solid-core Lyric HG, thanks to its enamel-coated stranded IGL-ECS conductors, and it lies flatter on the stage floor. It is still a substantial, rugged cable rather than a thin, limp one.

Which plug goes into the guitar? The right-angle plug goes into the guitar, which keeps the cable close to the body and suits side-mounted or recessed output jacks. The straight plug with the red boot is the output end and goes to the amp or the first pedal.

Right-to-Straight or Straight-to-Straight? Right-to-Straight suits side-mounted or recessed guitar jacks; Straight-to-Straight is a natural fit for top-mounted guitar jacks, amps and pedalboard inputs.

Can I use it with a bass? Yes. It is a standard 1/4" (6.35 mm) mono instrument cable for guitar or bass.

Does it need a break-in? Allow about 40 hours of signal; roughly 80% of the change happens in the first 10 hours.

Should I choose the Forte or the Reveal? Both use flexible IGL-ECS conductors. The Forte is the semi-balanced, reference-sound option in a rugged build; the Reveal is a coaxial design with an IGL-ECS stranded center conductor and a 98% parallel-run shield, the lighter-handling choice when maximum flexibility for constant movement is the priority.
