Description
The Fulltone OCD V2 is a Made-in-USA overdrive that responds to your pick attack like a cranked tube amp. Hard-clipped MOSFETs, a Class‑A discrete JFET input stage and the HP/LP voicing switch cover clean boost, edge-of-breakup and singing lead sounds without losing your guitar's personality.
Which Fulltone OCD is this? (V1 vs V1.4 vs V2 vs Custom Shop Ge)
OCD V2 (this pedal, from serial 205811 up) — current production. New JFET Class‑A input (1 MΩ input impedance), reworked output section, selectable True‑Bypass / Enhanced Bypass™, tighter and more mid‑forward voicing than the older OCDs.
Custom Shop OCD v1.4 — a factory reissue of the classic 2009 spec: scooped, more open low‑end and top‑end, slightly more fuzz‑like at high Drive. Lives in a different SKU.
Custom Shop OCD‑Ge (Germanium) — two MOSFETs plus two germanium diodes and a Class‑A JFET input. More dynamic range and a rounder, more tube‑like single‑note focus. Also a different SKU.
Standard OCD V2 (the pedal on this page) is the everyday, "cuts through a full band mix" version of the OCD.
Why guitarists choose the OCD V2
Reacts to how you play, not just how you dial it. Roll the guitar volume back and it cleans up to a boost; dig in harder and it opens into full overdrive.
Two voices from one pedal. HP (High Peak) adds a mid‑forward, British‑style push for rhythm and lead; LP (Low Peak) stays closer to your amp's natural tone for clean boost and American‑style crunch.
Wide amp compatibility. The Class‑A JFET input at 1 MΩ input impedance treats both single‑coils and humbuckers as they should sound; the 9–18 V DC range gives you extra headroom when you feed it 18 V.
Signal stays intact when you're not using it. Enhanced Bypass™ keeps highs and low‑end dynamics through long pedalboard chains without the tone‑suck of a passive true‑bypass loop. Prefer the classic route? Flip the internal switch to True‑Bypass.
Built to tour. Rugged metal enclosure, Fulltone 3PDT footswitch, hand‑built in the USA.
Controls and switches
Volume — pedal output level. Unity gain sits around the 9 o'clock mark; there is roughly 20 dB of make‑up gain on tap.
Drive — amount of overdrive. Below 10 o'clock the OCD works more as a transparent boost into an already‑pushed amp; past noon it moves into full crunch and lead territory.
Tone — treble‑only control. Noon is flat; back it off (~10 o'clock) for a smoother lead voice, past noon for extra cut in a busy mix.
HP / LP switch — HP adds gain, output and a Vox/Marshall‑style mid bump; LP keeps the OCD as transparent as possible for Fender‑style cleans and clean boost duty.
Internal True‑Bypass / Enhanced Bypass™ switch — under the four housing screws. Enhanced Bypass runs a Class‑A buffer whether the effect is on or off, so long cable runs and long pedal chains still keep top‑end sparkle and pick attack.

How is the OCD V2 different from the older OCD v1.4? The V2 has a new Class‑A JFET input stage, higher input impedance and a tighter, more mid‑forward voicing. The v1.4 is scooped, with more low‑end, more top‑end and a slightly fuzz‑like top gain. Many players say the V2 cuts through a busy mix better; the v1.4 sounds bigger on its own. Both are current Fulltone products, sold as different SKUs.
What's the difference vs the Custom Shop OCD‑Ge? The OCD‑Ge is a limited Custom Shop build that adds two vintage‑style germanium diodes alongside the MOSFETs. Expect a bit more dynamic range, more sustain and a rounder, more tube‑amp‑like feel on single notes. It's a different SKU and typically priced higher.
Which switch position — HP or LP — should I start with? Start in LP if you want the OCD to sit on top of your amp's natural sound (clean boost, Fender/Blackface‑style crunch, transparent overdrive). Switch to HP for more gain, more output and a Vox/Marshall mid push for lead work.
Do I have to use True‑Bypass or Enhanced Bypass? The OCD V2 ships with an internal switch so you can pick either. Enhanced Bypass keeps the signal buffered even when the pedal is off, which helps at the end of long cable runs and long pedalboard chains. True‑Bypass takes the circuit fully out of the signal path when the pedal is off.
Can I run it at 18 V? Yes. Any regulated 9–18 V DC supply with a 2.1 × 5.5 mm center‑negative barrel plug works. Running at 18 V opens up more headroom.
Battery or adapter? A 9 V battery is included. Most players use a regulated 9 V or 18 V DC pedal power supply on a pedalboard; the OCD draws only about 8 mA.
Is it really made in the USA? Yes — the OCD V2 is hand‑built at Fulltone's California facility, with the fabric‑insulated wiring, film capacitors and Fulltone 3PDT footswitch Fulltone is known for.
