About This Item
Description
The Hotone Ampero MP-100 is the original full-size Ampero floor processor: more than 240 amp, cab and effect models, XLR balanced outs, a built-in expression pedal and 5-pin MIDI In, running on an 18V supply instead of the 9V used by Ampero Mini.
Ampero is built around Hotone's CDCM HD and F.I.R.E. modeling: 64 amp models, 60 cab models, more than 100 pedal models and over 50 Hotone original effects, with up to 9 effect modules running at once. Patches are edited on a 4" color touchscreen or in the free Ampero Editor for Mac and PC, and the unit doubles as a USB audio interface for recording.
Why guitarists choose the Ampero
- Large effect library: more than 240 effects across 9 simultaneous modules and 198 patches (99 user + 99 factory).
- Full XLR balanced outputs with ground-lift switching, alongside 2 x 1/4" TS unbalanced outs, for the cleanest connection to a mixing board or interface.
- Standard 5-pin MIDI In, so it can be switched from a MIDI controller such as Ampero Control (EC-4) by connecting the controller's MIDI OUT/THRU to Ampero's MIDI IN.
- Built-in expression pedal plus an EXP 2/FS jack for an external expression pedal or the Ampero Switch dual footswitch.
- User IR loader with third-party IR support (20 user IR slots), plus microphone type and position simulation.
- Built-in looper (up to 100 seconds mono or 50 seconds stereo, pre- or post-effects, with reverse and half-speed) and a drum machine with 100 rhythm patterns.
- Sound Clone support in current firmware: import up to 10 clone files and use one at a time in place of the amp or drive module, managed through Ampero Editor.
Controls
- 4" 800 x 480 color touchscreen – full patch and effect editing, with three rotary knobs for on-screen parameters.
- Volume knob and Menu/Value knob – quick level and menu control.
- 4 assignable footswitches with halo LEDs, and a built-in expression pedal (EXP 1).
- 3-way input mode selector – electric guitar, acoustic guitar or line level.
- GND LIFT switch – on the balanced XLR outputs.
Connections & Power
- Input – 1/4" TS instrument jack with three-way input mode (E.GT 1 MΩ, A.GT 4.7 MΩ, LINE 10 kΩ).
- Aux In – 1/8" stereo jack (10 kΩ) for backing tracks.
- Outputs – 2 x 1/4" TS unbalanced (3.2 kΩ), 2 x XLR balanced with ground lift (2 kΩ), 1/8" stereo headphones (66 Ω).
- EXP 2/FS – 1/4" TRS jack for an expression pedal or a dual footswitch.
- MIDI In – standard 5-pin DIN.
- USB – USB 2.0 Type-B, USB Audio 2.0 interface, editing and firmware updates; class compliant on macOS and Windows 10.
- Power – 18V DC center-negative, 500 mA max, 5.5 x 2.1 mm barrel. This is 18V, not the 9V used by Ampero Mini, so a 9V pedal supply will not run it. No battery operation.

FAQ
What power supply does Ampero need? 18V DC center-negative with at least 500 mA, on a 5.5 x 2.1 mm plug. An 18V adapter is included. A standard 9V pedal supply, or the 9V supply of Ampero Mini, will not run it.
Does it have MIDI Out? No. Ampero has a 5-pin MIDI In only, so it can receive program changes and control messages from a controller such as Ampero Control, but it cannot send MIDI to other gear.
Can I add an external expression pedal or footswitch? Yes. The EXP 2/FS jack takes an expression pedal or the Ampero Switch: connect it, then set GLOBAL > EXP2/FS > MODE to Dual FS for the footswitch.
Does Ampero support NAM or captured amp tones? Current firmware adds Sound Clone: up to 10 clone files can be imported with Ampero Editor and used one at a time in place of the amp or drive module. Update both the firmware and Ampero Editor to see the Sound Clone tab.
Can I record with it? Yes. The USB 2.0 Type-B port works as a USB Audio 2.0 interface; it is plug-and-play on macOS and Windows 10, and older Windows versions use the Hotone ASIO driver. A USB cable is not included.
Does it have an effects loop? No. There is no send/return loop, so the four-cable method with external pedals is not available.
Can I plug in an acoustic guitar or a line-level source? Yes. The three-way input selector has electric guitar (1 MΩ), acoustic guitar (4.7 MΩ) and line (10 kΩ) modes.
What is the difference between Ampero and Ampero One? Ampero has a 5-pin MIDI In and a dedicated 18V supply; Ampero One has no MIDI In jack, so a MIDI controller reaches it only through USB with a Bluetooth MIDI bridge app.
