About This Item

Hotone Ampero One (MP-80) is a compact amp modeler and multi-effects processor with a built-in expression pedal, 242 effects, and a 9V power requirement lighter on your board's power budget than the original Ampero.

In the box: Ampero One unit (USB cable not included). Power: 9V DC centre negative, 500mA max. MPN/GTIN: 888506050046. ASIN: B085WCWCNG. Manufacturer: Hotone.

Description

The Hotone Ampero One MP-80 gives you a built-in expression pedal and 242 effects in a smaller, lighter chassis than the original Ampero, without the 18V power requirement.

Which first-generation Ampero processor fits your board?

Model Effects Built-in EXP pedal Outputs MIDI Power Weight
Ampero Mini (MP-50VN) 199 No 1 x 1/4" TRS stereo (Y-cable for L/R) + headphones None 9V DC, 500mA 529 g
Ampero One (MP-80) 242 Yes (EXP 1 onboard + EXP 2 external) 2 x 1/4" TS + headphones None 9V DC, 500mA 1202 g
Ampero (MP-100) 270 Yes 2 x 1/4" TS + 2 x XLR balanced (ground lift) + headphones 5-pin in/out 18V DC, 500mA 1408 g

Choose Ampero Mini for the smallest, lightest travel or desk rig with USB-C and a single stereo TRS output. Choose Ampero One when you want an onboard expression pedal and dual TS outputs without paying for XLR or MIDI. Choose Ampero for the fullest first-generation feature set – the largest effect count, XLR balanced outs with ground lift, and full 5-pin MIDI – and remember it needs an 18V supply, not the 9V used by Ampero Mini and Ampero One.

None of these three has a device-side NAM module. Each imports up to 10 Sound Clone tone files (.nam, .tone, or .clo, one usable at a time) through Ampero Editor, and Ampero Editor V1.6.0 added the ability to accept NAM A2 files for that same Sound Clone workflow – a companion-app feature, not native on-device NAM A2 playback.

Why guitarists choose the Ampero One

  • Built-in expression pedal (EXP 1), engaged by pressing it fully forward until it clicks, plus a CTRL footswitch to toggle it – no external expression pedal required to get started.
  • 242 effects across 9 effect modules and 198 patches give you a broad palette without Ampero's larger, heavier chassis.
  • 9V DC power (500mA max), the same supply voltage as Ampero Mini, so it is easier to share power bricks across a smaller pedalboard than mixing it with the 18V Ampero.
  • Ampero Switch's operating guide is written for "Ampero & Ampero One" specifically, documenting this unit's Dual FS mapping (FS4 TAP / FS5 TAP) for the optional external footswitch.
  • EXP 2 external expression/footswitch input lets you add a second expression pedal or footswitch beyond the built-in EXP 1.

Controls and switches

  • 4" touchscreen – full patch/effect editing.
  • Built-in expression pedal (EXP 1) – press fully forward until it clicks to engage.
  • CTRL footswitch – toggles the built-in expression pedal on/off.
  • Footswitches – patch change, effect on/off, tap tempo.
  • EXP 2 jack – external expression pedal or footswitch input.

Power and pedalboard compatibility

Runs on 9V DC centre negative, drawing up to 500 mA. Input impedance is 4.7 MΩ, output is 3.2 kΩ, headphones 66 Ω. Note: the USB Type-B cable is explicitly not included in the box per Hotone's manual.

FAQ

Does Ampero One support NAM A2 on the device? No. Ampero One has no device-side NAM module in firmware V3.1. It has Sound Clone (import up to 10 tone files via Ampero Editor, one usable at a time, .nam/.tone/.clo formats). Ampero Editor V1.6.0 added NAM A2 file support for that Sound Clone workflow – a companion-app feature, not on-device NAM A2 playback.

Does it have a built-in expression pedal? Yes, EXP 1 is built into the chassis and engages when pressed fully forward until it clicks; a CTRL footswitch toggles it on and off. EXP 2 is a separate external jack for an additional pedal or footswitch.

Is a USB cable included? No, Hotone's manual explicitly states the USB cable is not included.

Which footswitch does Hotone recommend? Ampero Switch, whose operating guide is written specifically "For Ampero & Ampero One" and documents this unit's FS4/FS5 TAP mapping.

What is the difference between Ampero One and Ampero Mini? Ampero One has more effects (242 vs 199), a built-in expression pedal (Ampero Mini has none), and dual TS outputs versus Ampero Mini's single stereo TRS output, at the cost of extra size and weight.

Does it have MIDI? No MIDI on this unit – for full 5-pin MIDI, see the original Ampero (MP-100).
