About This Item
Description
The Jackson Audio 1484 rebuilds the beloved 1963-1967 Silvertone Twin Twelve amplifier circuit part-for-part, swapping every vacuum tube for a JFET transistor, so a single stompbox can act as a studio-grade preamp, clean booster, EQ, or vintage American overdrive.
Why guitarists choose the 1484
- A part-for-part recreation of the Silvertone 1484 Twin Twelve amp's preamp circuit, developed together with Silvertone — not a generic amp-in-a-box emulation.
- JFETs were chosen for their tube-like behavior, touch sensitivity, and dynamic response.
- An internal voltage doubler converts the 9V supply to 18V internally for extra headroom and touch sensitivity.
- A soft-click true bypass footswitch removes the loud mechanical pop typically associated with true bypass switching.
- Custom-manufactured knob reproductions, a red jewel lamp, and a hand-assembled, polished stainless steel enclosure echo the original amplifier's look and durability.
- Four controls (Volume, Bass, Treble, Gain) can dial in a clean preamp tone, a sparkly overdrive, or the classic bass-up/treble-back Silvertone voice.
Controls
- VOLUME — Sets overall output level and how hard the pedal hits your amp.
- BASS — Boosts or cuts low frequencies in the recreated Twin Twelve tone stack.
- TREBLE — Boosts or cuts high frequencies; back off treble and push bass for the classic red-and-white Silvertone tone.
- GAIN — Sets drive amount from a clean preamp base to sparkly, smooth overdrive when driven with the other controls near noon. The original amp had no gain control; it was added for the pedal.
- Footswitch — Soft-click true bypass on/off.
Connections & Power
- Top-mounted input and output jacks for easier pedalboard layout
- Runs on a 9V DC center-negative supply (2.1 mm plug) drawing 35 mA; an internal voltage doubler boosts this to 18V internally
- Sold as pedal only; a 9V power supply is available as a separate option

FAQ
Does the 1484 come with a power supply? Not by default. The 1484 is sold as pedal-only, with a 9V power supply available as a paid add-on option.
What amp is the 1484 based on? The 1963-1967 Silvertone 1484 Twin Twelve piggyback amplifier, recreated part-for-part with JFET transistors replacing every original vacuum tube.
Can I use the 1484 as a clean boost instead of an overdrive? Yes. Keeping GAIN low delivers a clean preamp tone you can use purely for EQ shaping and level boost, while raising GAIN moves into sparkly, smooth overdrive.
Does the 1484 have MIDI or presets? No. The 1484 is a fully analog, knob-controlled pedal with no MIDI, digital control, or stored presets.
What power does the 1484 need? A 9V DC center-negative supply that can deliver at least 35 mA; an internal voltage doubler raises this to 18V internally.
How big is it? The polished steel enclosure measures about 5 x 4 x 2 in (127 x 102 x 51 mm), with all jacks on top.
