About This Item

The Meris MercuryX is a modular reverb system housing eight studio-grade algorithms — Ultraplate, Cathedra, 78 Room, 78 Plate, 78 Hall, Spring, Prism, and Gravity — with 2.54 seconds of stereo predelay and independent stereo Freeze for transcendent, studio-rack-depth ambience.

Power: 9V DC center-negative, 2.1mm, at least 300mA (adapter not included). Bypass: selectable relay true bypass (mono only) or analog buffered bypass, which auto-engages with stereo I/O, Trails, Spillover, or Kill Dry. Native 5-pin DIN MIDI In/Out plus USB-C (MIDI over USB on firmware 1.5+). GTIN: 850015619076. Manufacturer: Meris.

Description

The Meris MercuryX houses eight studio-grade reverb algorithms and 2.54 seconds of stereo predelay inside a modular, color-screen system built to take pedal reverb to studio-rack depth.

Which Meris MercuryX is this?

MercuryX takes the heart and soul of the compact two-footswitch Meris Mercury7 — keeping its Ultraplate and Cathedra algorithms — and expands it with six more reverbs (78 Room, 78 Plate, 78 Hall, Spring, Prism, and Gravity), 2.54 seconds of stereo predelay, independent stereo Freeze, gate envelopes, a color-screen UI, 99 presets across 33 banks, an instant tuner, and native 5-pin DIN plus USB-C MIDI. It is built on the modular architecture first introduced in the Meris LVX. Mercury7 remains a compact 6-knob, two-footswitch, 16-preset reverb.

Why guitarists choose the MercuryX

  • Eight studio-grade reverb algorithms cover everything from tight rooms and plates to vast, otherworldly halls.
  • 2.54 seconds of stereo predelay, with selectable note divisions for each side and modular feedback routing, lets you separate dry signal from reverb onset for clarity or drama.
  • Independent stereo Freeze sustains a reverb wash indefinitely for ambient pads and soundscapes.
  • Gate envelope controls for every reverb type.
  • Modular signal routing and a deep Modifier section for control signals go far beyond a fixed-knob reverb pedal.
  • Color screen and 99 onboard presets make deep patches easy to build, name, and recall, with a Favorites bank for 3 instant-access presets.
  • Native 5-pin DIN MIDI In/Out plus USB-C give full remote control with no external converter box needed.

Reverbs and Processing

  • Reverb structures: Ultraplate and Cathedra (from Mercury7); 78 Room, 78 Plate and 78 Hall (from the CXM 1978 collaboration with Chase Bliss); Spring; Prism (dual tank with discrete dual mono processing); Gravity (grain-based).
  • Processing elements: dynamics (Compressor, Limiter, Swell, Diffusion, Freeze), preamps (Tube, Transistor, Op-Amp), filters (Ladder, State Variable, Parametric), pitch, and modulation including 79 Chorus, Vibrato, Vowel Mod, Tremolo and Hazy Lo-Fi.
  • Processing insert points: Pre + Dry, Pre, Feedback, Pre Tank, and Post.
  • True stereo processing throughout; Prism uses discrete dual mono processing.

Controls and switches

  • Decay — Sets how long the selected reverb's tail rings out.
  • Predelay — Sets up to 2.54 seconds of stereo predelay before the reverb onset, separating dry attack from the wash.
  • Mix — Blends reverb with your dry signal.
  • Mod — Sets the modulation depth of the predelay.
  • C1 / C2 controllers — Edit the parameters shown on screen directly from the front panel.
  • C3 controller — Turns to change presets, pushes to enter edit mode, and holds to save — the way to browse MercuryX's 99 presets across 33 banks.
  • 4 LED buttons (1, 2, 3, Hold Modifier) — Mirror the four footswitches for desktop and studio use.
  • Footswitches 1, 2, 3 — Engage or bypass presets (hold 1 + 2 for the Favorites bank).
  • Hold Modifier footswitch — An envelope generator switch configurable per preset as Momentary, Latching, or Tap Tempo action; set it to Tap Tempo to tap in timing without a dedicated tap footswitch. Hold 3 + Hold Modifier for the tuner.

Connections & Power

  • Stereo input and output on separate 1/4" jacks; headroom switchable between Instrument and Line/Synth levels.
  • Dedicated expression pedal jack; the expression pedal can control multiple parameters at once.
  • 5-pin DIN MIDI In and Out: continuous control, preset send/receive and MIDI beat clock sync.
  • USB-C for firmware updates and MIDI over USB (firmware 1.5 and later).
  • Free prEDITOR desktop editor/librarian (Mac/PC) for editing, organizing and sharing presets.
  • Power: 9V DC center-negative, 2.1 mm barrel, at least 300 mA. A power supply is not included.

Use an isolated supply output rated for at least 300 mA. Bypass is selectable between relay true bypass and analog buffered bypass, and a global Spillover setting lets the tail of the previous preset overlap the next one when you switch.

FAQ

How many reverb algorithms does MercuryX have? Eight: Ultraplate, Cathedra, 78 Room, 78 Plate, 78 Hall, Spring, Prism, and Gravity.

What is the difference between MercuryX and Mercury7? MercuryX keeps Mercury7's Ultraplate and Cathedra algorithms and adds six more, plus a color screen, 2.54-second stereo predelay, independent stereo Freeze, processing elements, 99 presets and native MIDI. Mercury7 is the compact 6-knob, two-footswitch, 16-preset version.

Does MercuryX have a tap-tempo footswitch? Not a dedicated one. The Hold Modifier switch can be configured per preset for Tap Tempo action, and MIDI beat clock sync is also supported.

Is MercuryX true stereo? Yes. True stereo processing throughout, with the Prism structure using discrete dual mono processing.

Does MercuryX have a tuner? Yes. Hold footswitch 3 and the Hold Modifier footswitch together for the instant-access tuner.

Does MercuryX work with the Meris Preset Switch or need the MIDI I/O box? No. MercuryX selects presets with its own footswitches and has its own 5-pin DIN MIDI In/Out jacks plus MIDI over USB-C on firmware 1.5 and later; its EXP jack is a dedicated expression input.

What power supply does MercuryX need? 9V DC, center-negative, 2.1 mm barrel, at least 300 mA. A power supply is not included.
