FAQ
Why doesn't the BeatBuddy have standard MIDI ports? To keep the original BeatBuddy compact, Singular Sound used a smaller PS/2-style connector for MIDI Sync instead of full-size 5-pin DIN jacks; this cable breaks that port out into standard MIDI IN and OUT.
Do I need any other cables to use this? Yes, you also need a standard male-to-male 5-pin MIDI cable to connect the breakout cable's IN or OUT port to your other MIDI device.
Can the BeatBuddy control other gear, or follow it? Both. The BeatBuddy can be the MIDI master that sends tempo and start/stop to your looper or DAW, or a slave that follows external MIDI clock.
Does BeatBuddy 2 need this cable? No, BeatBuddy 2 has built-in full-size 5-pin MIDI IN/OUT ports and does not require this breakout cable.
Does it work with the BeatBuddy Mini 2? No. The Mini 2 has no MIDI Sync port, so this cable cannot be used with it.
