Description

A guitar-pedal-sized drum machine that gives you hands-free control of studio-quality, human-feeling drum beats without programming a single pattern.

Which BeatBuddy is this?

The BeatBuddy family has three current pedals. The BeatBuddy 2 is the new-generation model with HD drum kits, Autopilot mode, and SuperSwitch support. The BeatBuddy 10th Anniversary Edition is the original BeatBuddy in a limited black-and-gold finish. The BeatBuddy Mini 2 is the compact drum-pedal-sized option with built-in content.

  • vs. BeatBuddy 2: BeatBuddy 2 is a larger, newer pedal with an SD card slot, stereo 24-bit audio, full-size MIDI ports, SuperSwitch/expression-pedal support and a bigger color screen; the Mini 2 is a compact, fixed-content, mono 16-bit pedal built for affordability and pedalboard space, with no MIDI or SD expansion.
  • vs. BeatBuddy 10th Anniversary Edition: The BeatBuddy Anniversary Edition (the original BeatBuddy design) has an SD card slot for expandable content, 24-bit stereo audio, USB and MIDI (via adapter) connectivity; the Mini 2 drops all of that for a smaller, simpler, fixed-content pedal at a lower price.

Why guitarists choose this pedal

  • About 500 patterns: 220 songs across 24 genres, played with 9 drum sets, in a smaller, lower-cost pedal
  • One footswitch runs the drummer: tap to start with an intro fill, tap for a fill, hold to switch between verse and chorus, double-tap to end with an outro
  • Built-in display shows the drum set, BPM and time signature
  • Tempo set by tapping or with the control knob
  • Includes a 9V power supply in the box
  • No SD card slot — content is fixed/built-in rather than expandable, unlike the full-size BeatBuddy models
  • 16-bit mono audio output (vs 24-bit stereo on BeatBuddy Anniversary/BB2)

Controls and switches

  • All-purpose foot switch – starts/stops songs and triggers fills, transitions, intros/outros with a tap
  • Volume wheel – sets the drum level only
  • Genre/Song/Tempo combined control knob – push-and-turn to browse genres, songs, and set tempo; a light shows which one you are adjusting

Connections & Power

  • 1/4-inch input and 1/4-inch mono output; place it last in your chain, after any looper
  • Included adapter turns the output into a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack for silent practice, or connect to an amp's or home stereo's aux input
  • 1/4-inch TRS footswitch input for the optional Singular Sound Footswitch+
  • No MIDI, USB or SD card connection
  • 9V DC, 300 mA; power supply included

FAQ

Does the BeatBuddy Mini 2 have an SD card slot? No. Unlike the full-size BeatBuddy, the Mini 2's content is built-in and cannot be expanded or replaced with new songs or drum sets.

What power does it need? 9V DC at 300 mA. The matching power supply is included in the box.

Does it have MIDI sync or USB like the full BeatBuddy? No, the Mini 2 does not include MIDI sync or USB connectivity found on the larger BeatBuddy models — those features were removed to keep the price low. For MIDI sync with a looper, choose the BeatBuddy or BeatBuddy 2.

Can I add a second footswitch for more control? Yes, the Mini 2 has a 1/4-inch TRS footswitch input for the optional Singular Sound Footswitch+ for accent hits, pause, tap tempo and song/genre navigation. Other brands' footswitches are not supported.

Is the audio mono or stereo? The BeatBuddy Mini 2 outputs 16-bit mono audio, while the full BeatBuddy and BeatBuddy 2 output 24-bit stereo.

Where does it go in my pedal chain? Last, after any looper, so the drums are not looped or processed by your effects.

Can I practice with headphones? Yes. Use the included adapter to plug headphones into the output, or run it into an amp's or stereo's aux input.
