Description

The SLO-100 is famous for being one of the most detailed-sounding high-gain guitar amplifiers of all time. Until now, it’s been challenging to capture the amp’s nuanced character in a pedal format. The new Super Lead Overdrive pedal changes that, with the perfect balance of gain, sustain, and touch response the SLO is known for.

HIGH-GAIN

Legendary Sound

In 1987, Mike Soldano created the now legendary Super Lead Overdrive 100-watt tube head. The SLO set the standard for modern high-gain amplification and nearly four decades later, is still one of the most coveted amps in history.

The SLO’s drive channel found it backing up renowned rock guitarists like Mick Mars (Motley Crue), Warren de Martini (Ratt), and Howard Leese (Heart), while the bluesy crunch channel made the SLO the first choice for non-metal stalwarts, such as Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Warren Haynes, Gary Moore and Lou Reed, to name a few.

FLAGSHIP

Cascading Gain Stages

Crafted using the same cascading gain stages as the flagship amp, the SLO pedal is the perfect way to get that signature Soldano sound on to your pedalboard. The SLO pedal front panel boasts the same controls for Gain, Volume, Presence, and a 3-band EQ as the 100-watt tube amp. The side-mounted Deep switch nails the amp’s depth-knob low-end punch. These controls take you from harmonically rich crunch to some of the most famous high-gain in history.

Features

  • Volume: Controls the total output volume
  • Presence: Filters the output’s high end
  • Gain: Adjusts the total amount of gain that is applied, turning this control clockwise will increase the amount
  • EQ Section: Classic Soldano three band EQ; adjusting each clockwise will increase the output of the relative frequency ranges
  • Deep: Adjusts the overall output low-end punch

You can't beat the sound of a Soldano

I liked the pedal, it did require some compression in front to get the sound I wanted. Depth button is a bit too much or off not enough low end, a knob would have been nice. Had a lot of noise with single coil pickups. Works great as a preamp direct to power amp pedal. Mine died unexpectedly, according to Soldano it was defective. I will probably invest in another one in the future.

Great distortion/ preamp/ overdrive pedal. It's high gain, but not like a super metal distortion (example metalzone). More like Hair metal (which I also love). Great for those badass 80s riffs and solos.
The presence knob and bass sag button on the side are very nice and useful features of this pedal. And obviously the 3 band eq is the best option on any pedal.
I've used it in the front of the Amp, and in the back effects loop, sounds good either way. And I find it's a really nice looking pedal. Looks awesome on my board.

This pedal is awesome!! Love the tone, it sounds even better with a little compression in front. I have nothing but good things to say it. The build quality is excellent. The effect is engaged by a very gentle tap of the foot not a stomp. Plus, there's a 5 year warranty from Soldano should something go wrong. I have been a sucker for SLO 100 amp models since my early years of playing and never tried out the real thing. I own the NeuralDSP software plugin and like the pedal more. I was able to dial in a great sound within minutes. If you need a preamp in a pedal with the best distortion, this is for you.
