About This Item
Description
Warm, tube-flavored dual distortion in a single stompbox — two Mudhoney channels, each with its own controls and footswitch, so you can set an edgy overdrive on one side and a thicker, warmer distortion on the other.
Which T-Rex Mudhoney is this?
The Mudhoney 2 (also sold as Mudhoney II) puts two identical Mudhoney distortion channels in one enclosure. Each channel has its own Gain, Level and Tone controls plus a Boost switch for moderate or high gain, and its own footswitch. Only one channel is active at a time: selecting one turns the other off.
Why guitarists choose this pedal
- Two footswitchable distortion channels — effectively two overdrive/distortion pedals in one pedalboard slot.
- Independent Gain, Level and Tone on each channel, so the two sounds can be completely different.
- Per-channel Boost switch moves from mild breakup and natural overdrive to thick, harmonically rich classic distortion.
- Smooth, valve-like overdrive with good note definition and sensitivity to playing dynamics.
- 9V DC or 9V battery operation for full pedalboard flexibility.
Controls and switches
- Level (each channel) — output volume; at 12 o'clock output matches input, fully clockwise adds up to 15 dB.
- Gain (each channel) — how much saturation you feed that channel.
- Tone (each channel) — shapes the top end; the Tone knob lights up when its channel is active.
- Boost switch (each channel) — selects moderate or high gain.
- Footswitch I — engages channel I.
- Footswitch II — engages channel II.
Connections & Power
- Mono 1/4" input and output.
- 9V DC; accepts 8–12.5V DC.
- Current draw 20 mA — comfortable on any modern isolated power brick.
- 9V (6F22) battery capable — battery life 6–9 hours; the battery compartment is on the bottom under a hinged cover.
- Power supply not included.
- Most players run it after buffered pedals and before modulation and time-based effects.

FAQ
How is the Mudhoney 2 different from the original Mudhoney? The original Mudhoney is a single-channel distortion. The Mudhoney 2 gives you two Mudhoney channels with independent Gain, Level and Tone, a Boost switch per channel and a footswitch for each, so you get two sounds in one enclosure.
Can I use both channels at the same time? No. The channels are not stacked — selecting one channel turns the other off.
What does the Boost switch do? It switches that channel between moderate and high gain. With Boost off you get crunch to natural overdrive; with Boost on the sound thickens into full classic distortion.
Can I run it at 18V for more headroom? No — the pedal accepts 8–12.5V DC only. Do not exceed 12.5V.
Can it work as a clean boost? Yes — with Gain at minimum, Boost on and Level up, a channel gives a small clean boost.
What kind of guitar is it best for? Single-coils, humbuckers, and P-90s all work well. Blues, classic rock, and hard rock are all in its wheelhouse.
Warranty? 2-year manufacturer warranty.
