Description
Need full multi-effects tone in the smallest possible footprint? The GP-5 packs 100+ effects, SnapTone neural amp captures and Bluetooth 5.0 into a palm-sized single-footswitch stompbox with a metal chassis that still doubles as a USB-C audio interface.
Why guitarists choose the GP-5
SnapTone NAM support (50 preloaded, 80 max) brings neural amp captures converted from Neural Amp Modeler files to a pedal small enough for the tightest pedalboard corner.
Up to 9 effect blocks per patch in stereo, with a movable order for some modules, plus 20 slots for third-party cabinet IRs.
Two bypass modes — analog and digital — so you can pick how the pedal behaves when switched off.
Bluetooth 5.0 dual-mode (BLE and audio) streams audio for practice and lets the companion app edit patches and drum patterns without extra cables.
A 2-in/2-out USB-C audio interface means the same tiny pedal that gigs also records direct into a DAW.
GP-5 or GP-50?
The GP-50 is the larger dual-footswitch model: it adds a second footswitch, a built-in rechargeable battery, a looper, 1/8" TRS MIDI IN/THRU, an EXP/FS jack, separate stereo and headphone outputs and a bigger 1.77" screen. The GP-5 keeps the same core sound engine in a smaller single-footswitch box.
Controls and footswitch
0.96-inch color LCD display for patch and parameter browsing.
Volume knob and PARA knob for navigation and editing.
Single footswitch with LED ring, 4 modes: Patch, Songlist, Stomp CTL, Tuner (Bypass).
Built-in chromatic tuner; 100 drum patterns through the mobile app.
Connections & Power
Input: 1/4" unbalanced TS, 1 MΩ.
Output: 1/4" stereo TRS (unbalanced, 100 Ω), also used as the headphone output.
USB 2.0 Type-C: 2-in/2-out audio for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android; MIDI over USB (no 5-pin or TRS MIDI jacks).
Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless audio playback and app editing (iOS/Android); Windows/Mac software for file management and firmware updates.

FAQ
Does the GP-5 have an expression pedal jack? No, there is no built-in expression pedal and no EXP/FS jack on the GP-5.
Can I power it from USB? Yes, USB 5V at 190 mA, or a standard 9V DC center-negative adapter rated for at least 100 mA. It has no battery, and an adapter is not included.
What's SnapTone? Valeton's neural amp capture format; the GP-5 loads NAM files converted for the pedal, ships with 50 preloaded captures and holds up to 80.
Does it have MIDI? There are no MIDI jacks; MIDI works over the USB-C connection. For TRS MIDI IN/THRU, look at the GP-50.
Can I use headphones? Yes. The 1/4" stereo TRS output doubles as the headphone output.
Does it have a looper? No. The looper is on the GP-50.
How is the GP-5 different from the GP-50? GP-50 adds a second footswitch, a built-in battery, a looper, TRS MIDI, an EXP/FS jack and a larger screen; the GP-5 is the smaller single-footswitch unit.

Doesn't want to co-operate with my cell phone
When the unit arrived, I was excited because I'm supposed to be able to connect to it with my cell phone. Following is an excerpt of an email I sent to Pedalzoo in Barrie about my concerns:
"I've been having trouble with this unit.
It usually won't connect with the Valeton app on my Motorola android phone. When it does connect, it works intermittently. But when it does work, it's great.
Is it possible to return it for a replacement? Of course, I'll pay for all the shipping costs both ways. Also, I still have the manual and other paperwork that came with it in its original box and the original shipping box. I always do that in case something doesn't work.
Or, if possible, could I have it replaced with a GP-50? The bigger size might help if I continue to have app connectivity issues. Of course, I'll pay the difference in cost."
I got no response and, every time I try to phone via the [****] number all I get is an automatic hanging up of the connection.
I'm still willing to go through with my email's request but, I'm not sure I'll get a response to this review.

Great Little Pedal
I bought two of these to back up my pedal boards / amps in an emergency. With a bit of fiddling you can get a decent variety of tones out of this thing. I got the M-Vave Chocolate Plus MIDI Controller as well which makes the GP-5 much more usable particularly for a live situation. The amp models are all a bit on the dark side but that can be fixed by fiddling with the internal EQ. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this little pedal.

Great for the price
It has a lot of different effects, it is really good as a practice or backup multieffects.
