Description
Want the GP-5's SnapTone tone plus a looper and MIDI? The GP-50 builds on the same neural amp modeling platform with a second footswitch, a built-in battery, a looper, an EXP/FS jack and MIDI — a more complete pedalboard-format unit in a stompbox footprint.
Why guitarists choose the GP-50
Two footswitches instead of one open up looper control and extra patch access without an external footswitch.
A built-in 1450 mAh rechargeable lithium battery, rated for about 4 hours of playing and charged over DC 9V or USB 5V, means gigging without hunting for an outlet.
SnapTone NAM support (80 files, 50 curated) plus 20 third-party IR slots for neural amp tones beyond the built-in models.
An EXP/FS jack and 1/8" TRS MIDI IN/THRU let you add an expression pedal or sync with other MIDI gear; USB MIDI is supported too.
A 1.77-inch color screen with three quick-access knobs makes editing on the unit faster than on the GP-5.
GP-50 or GP-5?
The GP-5 is the smaller single-footswitch model with a 0.96" screen, no battery, no looper and USB-only MIDI. The GP-50 adds the second footswitch, battery, looper, TRS MIDI, EXP/FS jack, separate stereo and headphone outputs and a larger display.
Controls and footswitches
2 footswitches with LED rings, stompbox format, no built-in expression pedal.
1.77-inch color LCD, a large PARA knob, 3 quick-access knobs and 4 buttons: Save, Global, Exit/BT and drum machine.
On/off control of up to 6 modules directly from the unit.
Looper recordable directly from the unit (hold both footswitches), up to 20 seconds; loops are not kept after power-off.
100 drum patterns, built-in tuner, analog or digital bypass.
Connections & Power
Input: 1/4" unbalanced TS, 1 MΩ.
Outputs: L/R 1/4" unbalanced TS (100 Ω) and a 1/8" stereo headphone output (22 Ω).

FAQ
Does the GP-50 have a looper? Yes, up to 20 seconds, started by holding both footswitches — a step up from the GP-5, which has no looper. Loops are cleared when the pedal is powered off.
Does it have MIDI? Yes, 1/8" TRS MIDI IN and THRU plus USB MIDI, while the GP-5 has USB MIDI only.
Can I use an expression pedal? Yes, via the 1/4" TRS EXP/FS jack, which also accepts an external footswitch.
How long does the battery last? The built-in 1450 mAh battery is rated for about 4 hours, and it charges from a 9V DC adapter or USB 5V.
What power supply does it need? 9V DC, center negative, rated for at least 500 mA, or a USB 5V source that can deliver 1 A. An adapter is not included.
How is the GP-50 different from the GP-5? GP-50 adds a second footswitch, battery, looper, TRS MIDI, an EXP/FS jack, separate stereo and headphone outputs and a 1.77" screen; the GP-5 is the smaller single-footswitch unit without those.
Does it support neural amp modeling? Yes, SnapTone NAM with 80 files (50 curated) plus 20 third-party IR slots.
It does almost everything...for a little more than the price of a tuner
I was really surprised with how versatile and easy to use the Valeton GP-50 was. I was originally looking for a headphone amp pedal that I could put at the end of my board, and for about the same price, I came across the GP-50 which is able to perform that task as well as a ton of other useful functions. It pairs easily with a smart phone with a corresponding free app, and allows you to mix your guitar with an audio track from your prefered audio streaming app. It works great as an amp and cabinet simulator at the end of your pedal board or can be used on its own with build in simulations of compressors, drives, modulation, delays, etc. I think one of the most surprising uses is that it can hold its own as a competent pre amp that can be plug directly into a power amp or PA system. I don't think the GP-50 will replace my pedals and tube amp, but its a great subsitute when practicing late at night or when traveling. Lastly, it's a chromatic tuner with a nice bright display, which can mute your signal chain for quiet tuning when playing live.

Nice piece of gear — sound good. Should have charged from USB-C.

Great pedal but looper oh dear
Great pedal easy to use with great selection of effects. Only let down (which i did not notice at purchase was the time for the looper, a measly 20 seconds! Even mini loopers have 4 minutes so this is a big disappointment.
